Man, I love this time of year! I usually don't get much, so it's not about that. (even though I cleaned up this year!) I love Christmas music, fruitcake and eggnog (in small doses), looking at Christmas lights, decorating the house, baking cookies, drinking wine and watching Christmas Vacation while wrapping presents, Christmas parties, watching the kids get excited for Santa to come and watching their face when they open their presents.
My husband is like Buddy the Elf. If you haven't seen the movie Elf, I'd highly recommend it. He gets the kids all excited to decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving. I have really come to love this time of year.
As the kids get older, it's getting tougher to hide their presents. They found half of them in the van earlier in November. I told them that we had bought those for kids who didn't have toys and asked them if they looked like something they would want to ask Santa for. They really wanted those toys, so I guess we did a good job shopping.
That being said, I am so glad our kids go to a Catholic school. There is a lot of hype and materialism around Christmas and I want them to know the true meaning of Christmas. I love that they learn things at school that I had forgotten about. They remind me to stay focused on the important things in life and I am grateful for that.

What did he say?!?
I think kids' mispronunciation of common words is so funny. My 3 year-old, Jake has his own language. Heath's dad, Papa, calls it Jakenese. My dad said it sounds like a cross between Buckwheat and Scooby Doo. He replaces a lot of letters with the lettter H. So when he says he is going to be "four" next year, he says "I'm going to be....next year". You get the picture.
Well, the other day, I heard Heath tell Jake to say "thirty-four". I came running in the room just as Jake was saying "dirty h...". I couldn't help but laugh. He also said one time when he saw a fire truck with a four on it. "There's a fire f*ck with a h... on it!" Oh, geez...
When some of the older boys were younger, they used to say b*tch instead of bridge and f*uck instead of frog. I don't know how many times Heath and I have looked at each other in disbelief, thinking of a time we may have let something slip around the kids until we finally figure out what they are trying to say.
Oh, kids! They can make me laugh on some of the toughest days. I don't know how I'd get through the day without some comic relief.

I need a new wardrobe...
I love it when I have a chance to get out, but it's always stressful finding something to wear. I have such a narrow selection that are still nice and actually fit anymore. Even my sweats have 2 categories : acceptable for picking the kids up from school and just plain trash I wouldn't be caught dead in.
I wear the trashy sweats around the house because I cook, clean and get spit up on all day. Then I change to pick up the kids from school. (And for those who have seen me pick up the kids from school, the answer is "yes", I have worse looking clothes than that) I only wear jeans and pants for things like Mass, going out, and volunteering at the kids' school. I don't want to ruin the only clothes that look nice.
If I lost weight, I could get into a whole new wardrobe, but then again, it's the clothes that I wore in my pre-kid days, so some of them are a little out-dated. Right now I'm in limbo with what I can do. I know one thing for sure...I'm getting a couple of new sweatsuits for Christmas!!!

Why I felt the need to blog
I am a stay-at-home mom of 5 kids. Four boys: Gavin (6), Aidan (5), Jake (3), Brody (just shy of 2), and Addie (7 months). That's right...FOUR boys and one poor little girl :) I say this because Addie has some of the most onery big brothers imaginable. They are such sweethearts, but I'll really feel sorry for her when she gets into school.
I felt the need to blog because I don't get a whole lot of adult conversation and I thought maybe this would be a good hobby. My wonderful husband, Heath has his hobby of fantasy sports, so I thought this could be my outlet. I am not into sports whatsoever. We have many things in common, but that's just not one of them.
The reason for the title is probably obvious to many, considering I have a house full of what I like to call poop artists. I can't tell you how many Lysol wipes we go through in a given month. I also know that it helps other moms to know that they are not alone. Children are precious gifts from God, but let's face it...they'll make you want to lock yourself in your room and scream sometimes. (which I have done on a few occasions) God never gives you more than you can handle, so I guess He must think very highly of me. I love my big, crazy family and wouldn't trade them for all the money in the world.
